Cabinet holds last meeting in traditional format

The Cabinet Tuesday convened in its traditional format for the last time. The meeting was attended by the ministers of the Liberal Party and the Liberal Democratic Party. Of the ministers representing the Democratic Party, only Minister of Culture Boris Focsa came. The others, including the ministers of the Moldova Noastra Alliance, were represented by deputy ministers, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat said in this connection that he is waiting for the Constitutional Court's decision on the possibility of the ministers continuing working for the period of the election campaign, even if they were included in parties' lists of candidates.
Under Article 13 of the Election Code, the members of the Cabinet and civil servants quit their positions after they are registered as election contenders.
On October 21, the Constitutional Court will examine the constitutionality of suspending the ministers from posts for the period of the election campaign, at Prime Minister Vlad Filat's request. According to the Premier, this is against the constitutional norms, which say the mandate of the Cabinet cannot be interrupted.
