Cabdriver Igor Fediuş complained that for nine months he has been unable to find fair treatment in the state institutions, which he accuse of incompetence, lack of professionalism and negligence. The man said that on April 5, 2020, he was attacked by three individuals in Ciocana district of Chisinau and the aggressors haven’t been punished by now despite the existing evidence, such as video recordings, medical examinations and the roadmap.
In a news conference at IPN, Igor Fediuş said that the legal system in Moldova is ineffectual. “I do not trust the executive, legislative, judicial powers in the Republic of Moldova as they showed to me over these nine months that they are fully irresponsible, incompetent and exhibit non-professionalism and misconduct by abuse of power, influence peddling and excess of authority,” stated the driver.
According to Igor Fediuş, even if the case had been covered by TV channels and news portals, in this period the law enforcement agencies didn’t take measures to identify and punish the attackers. “The case hasn’t been clarified yet after nine months. Dear police officers, prosecutors, judges, the professional misconduct, irresponsibility and incompetence your show is a shame. You continue to protect criminal groups that make attempts on the life of citizens. I want to know the reasons for which I was attacked and the attackers to be held accountable. They face long jail terms. They should answer for what they did to me,” stated the cabdriver.
The man related that on April 4 this year, a female client asked for his phone number so as to call him directly when she needed a cab. In the evening of April 5, he was phoned from the woman’s phone number by a man. He accepted the order as it was a phone number he knew. When he got to the indicated address, three individuals approached him and asked him to open the trunk so as to put something inside. When he went out of the car, he was hit with a hard object. He called the police. The phone number from which the order was made was disconnected immediately after the incident. While he stayed in the hospital, the woman who asked for his phone number had looked for him and this makes him think that she was an accomplice. The police were furnished with the messages, but the investigation is stagnant.
The conference forms part of the series of conferences that are held in the framework of IPN’s project “Injustice Revealed through Multimedia”. IPN Agency does not assume the right to decide if the organizers of news conferences are right in the cases about which they will speak as this is the exclusive prerogative of justice, but the exaggeratedly long examination period of these cases, which is much longer than the law allows, can be considered an act of evident unfairness and injustice. IPN News Agency does not bear responsibility for the public statements made in the public sphere by the organizers of news conferences.
