Cabbie killers sentenced to heavy prison terms
The Chisinau Court of Appeal upheld the judgment of the Rascani District Court to sentence two men that killed a cabdriver one year ago to heavy prison terms. One man got 22 years behind bars, while the second, who was nonaged when the crime was perpetrated, got 12 and a half years, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a press statement, the Prosecutor General's Office said that the men had been indicted on charges of premeditated murder. On 20 January 2007 at night, the criminals picked randomly a cab and solicited a ride to Chisinau's outskirts. During the ride, they strangled the driver with a rope and then left the body in a wood.
The judgment is appealable.
