CAA: Covert forces are trying to reinstate former head of Authority

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Moldova draws the society’s and authorities’ attention to the intention of criminal factors to exert their influence in the civil aviation sector of Moldova. It noted that covert forces are trying to reinstate the former head of the Authority Octavian Nicolăescu after he was dismissed on October 8, 2019 following serious violations in his activity that resulted in serious financial damage, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the CAA.

The Authority reiterates the position concerning the legality of the dismissal of the ex-head, who committed serious financial deviations that resulted in damage to the public budget. The report on the internal inquiry into this case of October 3, 2019 points to the abuse of power committed by this.

To recover the damage caused to the public budget, to the value of 292,396.55 lei, the CAA administration on January 12, 2021 issued an order to this effect. “We note that this is only one of the series of violations committed by the former head of the Authority, which were confirmed by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office,” says the press release.

The CAA said it called on the responsible authorities to recover the damage caused by the ex-administration of the Civil Aviation Authority by suing this.
