By suspending Igor Dodon, PDM does nothing but increase his electoral value, opinion

An electoral subtext is seen in the temporary suspension of President Igor Dodon from office and by such a move the Democratic Party (PDM) does nothing but increase the electoral value of personage Igor Dodon. Such an opinion was stated in the program “Expertise hour” on Jurnal TV channel, IPN reports.

“They know he intends to run and by these successive suspensions they do nothing but make a victim of him,” said the vice president of the Liberal Democratic Party Ion Terguță. The politician noted the President’s suspension is a very serious procedure even if it the suspension lasts for five minutes only. He wondered what the suspended President did during these five minutes and if he used the presidential institution’s resources. “There is no institution in the country that would ask Igor Dodon what he did during the five minutes,” stated the Lib-Dem.

Vice president of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Mihai Popșoi said President Igor Dodon delegates the power to Andrian Candu at the suggestion of the leader of the PDM. “It is for the fifth time that we see no reaction on the part of the presidential institution. The President is removed and reinstated in situations that are very convenient for him,” he stated, wondering what kind of President is he if he allows a small group of people to use him like a switch.

Vice president of the Party “Dignity and Truth” Platform Alexandru Slusari noted President Igor Dodon accepted the cooperation with Vladimir Plahotniuc from the first day in office. The citizens wonder why budget funds should be spent on maintaining the institution when people’s lives haven’t improved. “In any public speech, he says he does not have powers, but when he ran for President didn’t he have time to read the Constitution and see what his powers are?” asked the politician.

Maxim Lebedinski, adviser to President Igor Dodon, said the President cannot be physically prevented from fulfilling his duties. It would be more correct for the Constitutional Court to delegate powers to sign decrees on the five concrete laws. “The Constitutional Court’s judgment does not specify other powers. If the President was suspended for a particular period of time, this means the one who holds office on an interim basis has all the powers enjoyed by the President,” stated the adviser.

The Constitutional Court on December 10 for the fifth time suspended Igor Dodon from the office of President following a requisition filed by Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu and Democratic MP Sergiu Sârbu.
