The Chisinau municipality intends to open by one more school in each district of Chisinau. “As three is a rising number of school students in the municipality, we aim to open more schools during the next few years,” deputy mayor of Chisinau Angela Kutasevich stated for IPN.
For now, a decision about the organization of new types of schools does not exist. “To my mind, it would be right to multiply the good managerial models of some of the schools and to turn them into branches or Block II for school X or Y and to base there, for example, a primary school only and other school levels to be housed by the other buildings,” explained the deputy mayor.
According to Angela Kutasevich, the problem of additional applications for enrolling children in the first grade was solved. “Where it was possible, we supplemented the number of classes, if the school area permitted. If not, we will have a larger number of children in classes than the recommended one. According to norms, the primary classes should be of about 30 children, while the secondary, lyceum classes of up to 35 children. In some of the institutions, these norms are not respected,” stated the functionary.
At the end of July, the municipal authorities reported over 1,000 additional applications for the enrolment of children in the first grade in education institutions in Chisinau. Officials of the Education, Youth and Sport Division assured that solutions will be identified so that all the children are included in the education process.
