A businessman from Chisinau, who supplied beef to the canteen of the Police Academy “Stefan cel Mare”, was denounced to the National Anticorruption Center (NAC) by an officer of the Ministry of the Interior. This said that as a result of an inspection that he carried out, the businessman offered him 8,000 lei for not reporting the falsification of the sanitary-veterinary certificate, IPN reports.

According to the Center, the suspect was caught red-handed, when he was giving the money. He was placed under arrest for 72 hours initially and is held in the NAC’s remand prison. The man is investigated for active corruption and faces up to six years in jail and a fine of 100,000 to 200,000 lei.
