The parliamentary group of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) delivered a part of the promises made in the election campaign, especially those concerning social initiatives, stated the group’s chairman Corneliu Furculiță. As an overdue measure, he mentioned the adoption of the package of laws that would facilitate activity in the business sector, but this will be a priority for the next session.
Asked by IPN to speak about achievements at the end of the parliamentary session, Corneliu Furculiță said that after Parliament became functional in June, they adopted the initiatives related to de-oligarchization. As regards the electoral promises, there were endorsed social initiatives that were worked out with the participation of the PSRM, such as the indexation of pensions two times a year, assistance on the winter holidays intended for socially disfavored persons, etc.
The MPs said the appointment of the Government led by Ion Chicu is another accomplishment. President Igor Dodon also played a role in this process. Polls show the population is tired of elections. This way the snap elections were avoided. No political turbulence is expected next year. As the technocratic government announced, it will endorse only the bills needed by the country and the PSRM will definitely support them.
Corneliu Furculiță noted that the package of laws that facilitate activity in the business sector is an overdue measure, but also a priority. It is about the five principles announced by the Head of State. Among these are the exclusion of economic inspections from the duties of the Ministry of the Interior and the approval of the law on domestic trade in a move to support the national producers. By such actions, a normal, pressure-free environment will be ensured for businesses. The tax basis and declaring will be improved and more revenues will be collected into the state budget as a result. These extra funds will enable to implement other initiatives, in healthcare, education, infrastructure, etc.
As to cooperation with the other groups, Corneliu Furculiță said the political color does not matter when the initiatives are designed to ensure the people’s wellbeing. One of the last sittings of Parliament, where the social initiatives were adopted unanimously, is a relevant example. The state budget was an exception, but this is also a political document, to his mind.
In the February 24 parliamentary elections, the Party of Socialists won 35 seats of MP, 17 of which in single-member constituencies No. 1, 2, 4, 7, 9, 10, 11, 23, 24, 28, 29, 31, 36, 44, 45, 46 and 49.
