A business entity based in Chisinau was disconnected from the centralized water supply system on November 28 owing to debts of about 31,000 lei for water, IPN reports.
Viorica Andronovici, engineer coordinator of the disconnections group of SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau”, said the company has debts of about 25,000 lei on one address and of 6,000 lei on another address, where the disconnection was performed today. As regards the second address, the business entity rented the building from a private individual and, even if it performs economic activities, providing hotel services, refuses to sign a contract with the water supplier and to pay for the consumed water according to the tariff set for legal entities.
Press officer of “Apa-Canal Chisinau” Nadejda Fotescu said the business entity rents the building from a private individual and the tariff of 10.69 lei is applied at the given address. But in fact, the entity provides hotel services and should pay the tariff of 24.50 lei. Currently, the debt for consuming 600 cubic meters of water is of over 6,000 lei, calculated for private individuals. If this complies and signs a contract with the supplier to pay for water according to the tariff for legal entities, the debt will be about three times higher.
"“Apa-Canal Chisinau” repeatedly issued the business entity with prescriptions to comply with the requirements and to sign a contract as a business entity, but this refuses. Moreover, this was disconnected from the water supplier and sewerage networks two times, but the entity immediately restored the connection illegally, possibly at night,” stated Nadejda Fotescu.
At present, 270 business entities have debts for water and sewerage services totaling 14 million lei.
