The business entities to blame for causing vegetation fires will be punished with fines of up to 50,000 lei and will be stripped of state support. A bill to this effect was presented by MPs of the Party of Action and Solidarity in a news conference, IPN reports.
PAS MP Dumitru Alaiba said they propose also introducing a ban on activity for a period of six months to a year. They will suggest preventing business entities that cause fires from accessing public funds and are also considering introducing administrative detention.
The MP asked the people to stop setting dry grass on fire. The about 4,700 vegetation fires that occurred so far this year affected 30,000 hectares.
PAS MP Lilian Carp said the forests and natural reserves are in danger. The people should stop such a vicious practice as the fires destroy ecosystems and animals and birds die.
The bill is to be registered with Parliament on Tuesday, March 29.
