The Republic of Moldova needs a period of stability because the foreign investments will not come to a country where there is no predictability and clear-cut rules for the business, considers the chairman of the Employers’ Association of Processing Industry Marin Ciobanu.

In a news conference at IPN, where he presented his public declaration, Marin Ciobanu said that at the start of 2016 he had a series of discussions about the situation in Moldova with German officials and experts and made a series of accusations against the government. In almost a year, he has to admit that those statements were unreasonable and hasty.

“As an experienced manager and as a specialist in economy, I surely noticed that the positive changes witnessed the past year are a direct consequence of the efforts made by the current Government to stabilize the country. Important steps were taken to reduce the number of inspection institutions and bureaucracy and this resulted in a more attractive business environment,” stated Marin Ciobanu.

According to him, the results achieved in Moldova were reflected in the World Bank’s Doing Business report and in the activity of business entities. As a result, a number of foreign companies decided to invest in Moldova. Marin Ciobanu gave as example the companies Draxlmaier, Sumitomo, Gebauer and Coroplast, which together will create about 8,000 jobs.

“The process of improving the situation in the country is real, very concrete and can be seen with the naked eye. That’s why I consider that this Government, without which the aforementioned things wouldn’t have been possible, should be allowed to work. Not only I say this, but also foreign investors and the development partners,” stated Marin Ciobanu.

According to him, Moldova will only lose if the situation in the country is uncertain, society is rocked by conflicts and there is no political stability.
