Buses, trains and planes set off on time, but return with delay
The buses, trains and planes from Monday, December 21, leave Chisinau for the internal and international destinations according to the timetable, but come back with delay. The operators are glad that the snowfall stopped, but are concerned about the forecast glazed frost, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Eugenia Chiuchiu, of the information service of the North Bus Terminal in Chisinau, has told the Agency that the buses run on routes as usual, but return with delays of 10-15 minutes. The Center and South terminals experience the same problems.
According to Eugenia Chiuchiu, the buses going to Odessa encounter difficulties yet. “Usually, the buses leave for Odessa every hour, starting at 5.50 in the morning. But now they travel not so frequently as the roads in Odessa are dangerous and there are not so many passengers.”
Elena Lipcan, of the Railway Terminal in Chisinau, said the trains set off according to the timetable. “Only the Bucharest-Chisinau train came yesterday with delay. It was to arrive at 8.50, but came at 11.10”.
Petru Jardan, operational director of the Chisinau International Airport, said that all the flights from Chisinau left according to the timetable. The plane from Verona did not get to Chisinau on Sunday, December 20. “Two planes will leave Verona for Chisinau today,” Petru Jardan said.
A flight between Timisoara and Chisinau was over three hours late as the plane took off from Timisoara with delay. Other planes came with delays of 5 to 30 minutes as they were treated with chemical substances that melt the snow.
Asked about the number of passengers during the last few days, Petru Jardan said the plane tickets are purchased beforehand and the passenger flow is the same as during the previous holiday seasons.
Petru Jardan also said that the previous days the airport had been cleared of snow round-the-clock so as to prevent its closure, but they are still on the alert as the expected warming will create new problems.
