A bus en route from Chisinau to Bucharest with 33 people on board slid into a ditch in slippery road conditions in Romania's Buzau county on Monday morning. No one was injured, mediafax.ro reported.
The accident occurred at around 5:35 on road DN2/E85. Sliding into the ditch, the bus fell on its right side and trapped the 31 passengers and 2 crew members inside. Rescuers got them out through the emergency roof hatch.
Everyone from the bus was assessed by paramedics and no injures were reported. The passengers and crew members have been taken to a shelter before they can continue their journey.
A code-orange for snow, blizzard and icy roads is in place in Buzau County.
A similar weather advisory has been issued in Moldova nationwide. The Ministry of Transport and Roads said all the roads in the country are driveable at this hour, with no villages being isolated by the snow. Snow-clearing efforts particularly target roads leading to schools and district centers. In case of major difficulties on the road, drivers can call the Roads Agency's helpline at 022 748961.
