Bus kills man near cemetery
A Chisinau man died after being hit by a route bus.
Silvia Babara, doctor coordinator at the Emergency Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the accident occurred on Saturday, March 15, near the main entrance to St. Lazar Cemetery. The 48-year-old man was fatally stricken by a bus on route 28.
The same day, a passenger minibus on route 107 ran into a lamppost in the suburban village of Truseni. The 39-year-old driver suffered brain concussion, multiple forehead wounds, and severe chest trauma. A 34-year-old passenger on the minibus suffered brain concussion and forehead wound. Both victims were apparently drunk.
A man, aged 53, hanged himself in his household on Decembristilor Str. Another man, 32, tried to commit suicide in the same way, but was lucky to be found alive by relatives, who called an ambulance. The man was hospitalized with asphyxia.
A teenage girl, 14, was spotted in the street being dead-drunk and was admitted for detox. Another young woman, 28, was hospitalized after trying to commit suicide by an overdose of pills.
On Sunday, the Chisinau Emergency Service received 705 calls, responding to 59 cases of trauma, 69 cases of acute viral diseases and 7 brain strokes.
