Bureau for Migration and Asylum to be reorganized into General Inspectorate for Migration

The Bureau for Migration and Asylum of the Ministry of Home Affairs will be reorganized and renamed the General Inspectorate for Migration, as a draft decision approved by the Government on Wednesday stipulates.

According to the authorities, the reorganization of the institution will help strengthen the capacities for legalizing and issuing papers to Ukrainian refugees and for efficiently responding to challenges and threats. The move will also enable to keep the migration situation under control, to promptly operationalize the monitoring of the stay of foreigners in Moldova and to deal with the files of applicants for permits of stay in Moldova within 15 calendar days.

The changes will also increase access to information, consultancy and document issuing services for foreigners and applicants all over the country through the agency of the local offices in the North, Center and South and will contribute to improving the quality of services provided to investors, representatives of the business community as regards the issuing of papers to foreigners who come to work, including citizens of EU member states.

The number of personnel units will be increased by 50 in a movie to ensure the functional roles and duties are fulfilled in the most efficient way. The duties at the local level will be deconcentrated so as to ensure the services are close to the citizens and the applicants.
