Bullying can be met in most of the educational institutions of the Republic of Moldova. The subject was discussed in a roundtable meeting entitled “Together we Reduce Bullying!”, which is part of a project implemented by Keystone Moldova, IPN reports.
Project coordinator Lina Malcoci said that to help parents, students and teachers to better realize what bullying is, these were involved in advocacy activities, social media campaigns and summer schools.
Diana Prisacaru, project coordinator of the Alliance of Active NGOs in the field of Child and Family Social Protection, said the activities implemented as part of this project contributed to the prevention of this phenomenon in schools and this will lead to the creation of a safer environment for students.
Keystone Moldova administrative director Nicolae Ciocan said violence in schools in all its forms is a violation of children’s rights to education, health and welfare. Collective effort is needed to root this out.
“We developed here a network of active volunteers who help the young people solve social problems. The goal of the project was to develop efficient communication to identify solutions and diminish bullying,” stated Nicolae Ciocan.
Ludmila Grâu, a teacher in Tudora village of Căușeni district, said that many situations of bullying cannot be solved without the involvement of adults.
“In time, I witnessed multiple cases of bullying. That’s why I always tried to prevent it. The victims are usually sensitive. When I failed to persuade the aggressor, I tried to discuss with parents,” stated Ludmila Grâu.
Psychologist Cristina Jereghi noted that there are no bad children, but three are misunderstood children. It is very important to realize the reason of bullying. Everyone should intervene when they see something wrong, regardless of the role they play.
The roundtable meeting was held as part of the project “Community dialogue for reducing the phenomenon of bullying” that is implemented by Keystone Moldova in the framework of the project “Together for High-Quality Education” that is supported by the Liechtenstein Development Service (LED) and is implemented by the Alliance of Active NGOs in the field of Child and Family Social Protection.
