The Bulgarian Embassy to Moldova presents an exhibition of historical maps in Chisinau titled “The European Discovery of the Black Sea,” on the occasion of its 100 years of independence and 130 of statehood, Info-Prim Neo reports. At the official opening on November 3, ambassador Nikolay Iliev said the old maps were not for the first time hosted by the Archeology and History Museum of Moldova, last spring. This exhibition is but a small part from a donation by a Bulgarian citizen, which comprises 453 maps, 350 atlases, over 1,000 books and many historic documents, depicting Bulgaria's presence for century on the world political map. The author of the project is Stefan Peikov, the chairman of an international commercial-cultural center GEOPAN, while the space and graphic arrangement has been done by designer Konstantin Otonov. Eugen Sava, the director of the hosting museum, says the expo is a new concept, rendered in an original manner, taking the form of images and photos. “Given this exhibition, the public can get familiar not only with Bulgaria's economic, cultural and spiritual values which also belong to Eastern Europe, but also with the historical continuity of our neighbors represented on historical maps,” Eugen Sava said. He points out such thematic exhibitions has been and will be organized by the museum. On December 1, they will host an exhibition dedicated to 1,000 years of Lithuania's statehood. The Bulgarian expo is on till November 23.
