Bulgaria’s Ambassador in Chisinau Georgi Panayotov is glad that Moldova has a full European agenda and makes progress in this direction. “I hope that in the not too distant future we will be able to welcome Moldova as an EU member state,” the Ambassador stated for Info-Prim Neo. The diplomat considers that Moldova already shares the European and democratic values. “The EU is based on a number of key principles, including democracy, market economy, guaranteeing of the human rights and others and Moldova meets them all,” said Georgi Panayotov. The promotion of the European values is one of the main tasks of the Embassy of Bulgaria. “The European message is disseminated every day, by every act of the Embassy and its employees. We are involved in a number of activities aimed at promoting and presenting the EU actions by public diplomacy,” said the Ambassador. According to him, the European message in Moldova is promoted by performing the tasks set by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Bulgaria, which are designed to improve the relations between these countries. The Embassy of Bulgaria also implements joint actions with other embassies of the EU member states working in Chisinau. “Bulgaria became a member of the EU in 2007 and we have a rich experience related to the European integration, from which Moldova can learn. When Prime Minister Vlad Filat was in Sofia on a visit on April 19, these aspects of the bilateral relations were also discussed,” said Georgi Panayotov. The Embassy of Bulgaria will take part in the events organized by the EU Delegation to Moldova on Europe Days. “We will have an informative stand in the “European Village”. The Embassy’s representatives every year give lectures about the history, organization and actions of the EU to students of the State University in Taraclia,” stated the Ambassador. Europe Days in Moldova will be celebrated in Chisinau and Comrat on May 12 – 19. Tents of the embassies of the EU member states will be put up in the Great National Assembly Square, as last year. The visitors of the “European Village” will be able to receive information about the languages, culture, traditions and cuisine of the European countries. Linguistic corners’ will be set up within the “European Village”, where the visitors will be able to learn key words and phrases in different languages of the EU. A similar program will take place in Comrat on May 19. The celebrations are organized by the EU Delegation to Moldova.
