Building of Transnistrian war veterans not yet officially in commission

The apartment building located on Corobceanu St, which was occupied illegally by participants in the armed conflict on the Nistru, cannot be put officially in commission as about 2 million lei more is needed to finish the works, Info-Prim Neo reports. Elena Bejenaru, head of the Regional Development Ministry’s General Construction Division, said the agreement was that the money will be invested by the dwellers, but it wasn’t respected. “The works were stopped. Money from the state budget can be invested in the construction only if the building is under the management of the Ministry, not Parliament,” Elena Bejenaru said in the October 18 meeting of the National Council on Problems of Participants in Armed Conflicts. A bill to transfer the building to the Government was submitted to the State Chancellery. It was already approved by the Justice Ministry and is to be endorsed by the Government. The heads of the veterans’ associations said they discussed with Speaker Marian Lupu, who assured them that the lawmakers will not hinder the remaining works. The veterans expressed fears that the apartments may be appropriated by persons who do not deserve them. The apartments in the building situated on Corobceanu St were occupied by veterans illegally in December 2000.
