The manager of a building company was sentenced to 14 years and 10 months in jail for swindle and misappropriation. This was found guilty of signing by two-three contracts for the sale of one and the same apartment with different buyers, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the manager during several years signed 36 double or even treble investment contracts for apartments that were already sold, receiving money for these from different persons.

On the pretext of building apartments and in the absence of the necessary documents, the manager signed contracts for the investment of capital in an apartment building with 12 persons. This didn’t have design documentation for erecting the apartment building, construction authorization or urbanism certificate, while the plot didn’t belong to the company that he managed.

The prosecutors determined that the manager earned about 22 million lei by swindle and abuse of confidence. Besides being jailed, this was also banned from holding particular posts for five years and was obliged to pay back the money to the victims. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
