Parliament adopted the 2016 budgetary-fiscal policy in the last reading. A series of provisions were excluded from the initial document such as the rise in land tax and in the import duties on cars, IPN reports.
Unaffiliated MP Stefan Creanga, who heads the commission on economy, budget and finance, said the proposal to increase the tax on farmland and the norms concerning the rise in excise duties on means of transport imported into Moldova were excluded. The price of vignette (road tool) will not be raised. The tax on motor vehicles was also excluded.
The MPs decided to introduce a new property tax. Thus, those who possess houses that are over 120 square meters in area and whose cadastral value exceeds 1.5 million lei will pay a tax of 0.8% of the price of the dwelling. The Government is to work out regulations for implementing the given provisions.
It was also decided to raise the excise duties on cigarettes, alcoholic beverages and fuel. Stefan Creanga said the personal exemptions remained at the same level as in 2015, but in 2017 these should be raised so as to enable the people to consume more.
