“Bucuria” factory will not stop work
The candies factory “Bucuria” will not halt production. The decision was taken after a meeting held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry in the evening of September 2. Minister of Agriculture Vasile Bumacov has told Info-Prim Neo that the factory will receive the necessary amount of sugar on September 5.
According to the minister, the meeting was attended by the financial director of “Bucuria”, the procurement director and representatives of the joint Moldovan-German company “Südzucker Moldova” and the Licensing Chamber.
“We agreed that “Südzucker” will look for possibilities to supply the factory with sugar. There are another five companies that are ready to import sugar. “Bucuria” could have imported itself sugar long ago as we informed the administration that 4 500 tonnes of sugar were available for import. They said they faced difficulties when validating the documents and thus did not import sugar,” said the minister.
Vasile Bumacov criticized the administration of “Bucuria”, saying a large company that uses 40 tonnes of sugar a day should have avoided the situation when there is not enough sugar.
The press reported lately that the candies factory “Bucuria” may suspend work owing to a shortage of sugar. None of the company’s director could be found for comment. The factory started work in Moldova 65 years ago and has 1 500 employees.
