Romania’s EU membership will enable Romanian politicians to continue in a more efficient manner the role of advocate in what concerns the European aspirations of Moldova, which is to a greater extent the goal of Moldova’s citizens than of the anti-Romanian communist leaders, a statement of the National Liberal Party says, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. According to the source, the democratic and national political class in Chisinau was always aware of the fact that a strong and modern Romania means new opportunities for the Romanians from the left bank of Prut River, and for regaining faster the national conscience and the Romanian identity of the State of Republic of Moldova. NLP says that it has constantly promoted the strategic objective of the second Romanian state – joining the Euro-Atlantic and European structures, acknowledging the fact that the fulfilment of this objective means uniting the Romanian nation within the European family. The Party promotes the concept of the Interstate Union Romania-Moldova, as a mechanism that would accelerate the preparations for Moldova’s EU membership and that would inform the western decision makers about the similarities between the two parts of the Romanian nation, living in two distinct states. NLP condemns in its statement the anti-Romanian actions of the Moldovan government and affirms that they are not the manifestation of the opinions and convictions the majority of Moldova’s population has. The citizens of Moldova are passing through a difficult period of regaining the democratic values national values. At the end of this road they would like to feel that they are together with the Romanian people in a civilised family, where their children will not experience the horrors totalitarian regimes bring about, the statement concludes.
