The Parliament of Bucharest will support the Moldovan legislative body in its efforts to hasten the completion of infrastructure projects so as to ensure Moldova’s interconnection with the EU energy market. A statement to this effect was signed at the end of the seventh meeting of the Joint Commission for European Integration between the Parliament of Moldova and the Parliament of Romania that was held in Chisinau on June 11, IPN reports.
Romanian MP Bogdan-Ionel Rodeanu, co-chairman of the commission, said that under the signed statement, both of the sides will support the development of cooperation in the construction and modernization of transport infrastructure. It was also agreed to identify durable solutions to increase efficiency in facilitating border crossing.
The MP reiterated the Romanian state’s readiness to cooperate closer so as to identify common projects with direct benefits for the Moldovan and Romanian citizens. “We will try to be the facilitator by which the standing commissions between the two parliaments would cooperate and would build bilateral plans in areas of interest,” stated Bogdan-Ionel Rodeanu.
Moldovan MP George Mocanu, co-chairman of the commission, said the Republic of Moldova benefits from consistent support from Romania through assistance offered in doing reforms. He thanked the Romanian government for this support.
George Mocanu noted that the meeting discussed the necessity of eliminating or at least reducing the roaming charges and the signing of a bilateral agreement to facilitate the employment of Moldovans in Romania and vice versa.
