Bucharest is interested in implementing cultural projects together with Chisinau

Romania and Moldova aim to develop joint cultural projects. The two states plan to launch a series of cultural activities aimed at intensifying the bilateral relations and at developing the cultural sector in Moldova. The issue was discussed by Minister of Culture Monica Babuc and her Romanian counterpart Vlad Alexandrescu in a meeting in Bucharest. The official delegation of Moldova accompanied President Nicolae Timofti on his visit to the neighboring state, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the officials discussed the current state of the bilateral cooperation relations and the prospects of developing joint projects in the field of culture. Monica Babuc thanked the Government of Romania for the assistance provided in restoring several historical cultural buildings in Moldova.

The minister also thanked for the support offered to draw up joint transnational files for the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which continues to represent a priority in the Moldovan-Romanian cultural cooperation, for providing scholarships to study cultural management, bibliotechonomy and cultural heritage and for facilitating the donation of contemporary Romanian books to Moldovan public libraries.

In the end, the sides agreed to sign a new agreement of bilateral cooperation between the Ministries of Culture of the two states so as to stimulate the implementation of concrete measures aimed at promoting the cultural values and supporting activities in different areas of culture.
