A delegation from the water utility Apa Nova Bucuresti, headed by its general manager Bruno Roche, is making an official visit to Chisinau during June 8-10 to participate in a presentation of water utility projects in the Romanian cities of Pitesti and Bucharest, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a press release from Chisinau's water utility, during the visit to Moldova, Bruno Roche had a meeting with his counterpart from Apa-Canal Chisinau (ACC), Constantin Becciev. Discussions focused on the possibility of implementing joint projects and exchanging experience. The meeting also addressed such issues as attraction of investment and European financing into sustainable projects, implementation of modern water treatment technology, the construction of waste incineration facilities, water quality, provision of high-standard services at reasonable rates. To showcase a successful model of sustainable development in the field, Bruno Roche presented to the partners in Chisinau the project for the rehabilitation of the Bucharest Waste Water Treatment Plant. “This is one of the largest environmental projects implemented in Romania, which aims to rehabilitate a waste water treatment facility in Glina and build an incinerator. As the financing is done from European funds and covered by the municipality, these efforts will not cause a rise in water and sewer rates, which currently are around 1 euro per cubic meter of water”, said Bruno Roche. ACC director Constantin Becciev informed his guest about the situation at the Chisinau Waste Water Treatment Plant and ACC's plans to build an European-standard waste disposal facility. “The Waste Water Treatment Plant in Chisinau urgently needs rehabilitation. This requires huge amounts of money, which neither the municipality nor ACC has. Thus, the only solution is to obtain credits from the European financial institutions. Currently we are negotiating with a number of European banks” said Constantin Becciev.
