The state institutions will be obliged to offer access to public data collected by them in an open and automatically processed format. The data can be used by the citizens both for commercial and non-commercial purposes, IPN reports.
“This way the Government aligns itself with the EU’s efforts in the area of re-use of public sector information and opening of public data,” ICT Minister Pavel Filip said after the executive’s meeting where the given norms were approved.
The National Participation Council, which brings together representatives of civil society who monitor the Government’s work, approved of the bill. In a news conference, representatives of the Council said the approval of the bill will contribute to the development of the market of related information services, which is the goal of the European directive on the re-use of public sector information.
