Broadcasting regulator invites proposals of programs that raise issues of public interest

The Broadcasting Coordination Council has launched a contest to choose proposals of programs that address issues of public interest in a move to stimulate the national audiovisual production and to offer the public programs of social, civic, cognitive, educational and cultural interest, IPN reports.

Among the subjects of public interest proposed in the contest are the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, problems faced by persons with disabilities and national minorities, ecological problems and issues related to minors and education.

The contest is intended for broadcasters that transmit through ether or cable in Moldova’s settlements. In the case of the broadcasters of Chisinau and Balti municipalities, only the cable ones where the national programs represent over 60% of the broadcast volume can take part.

Applications can be submitted during November 4-18. The final decisions will be taken by vote in a public meeting, while the contest results will be made public within 15 days of the deadline for submissions.

The regulations concerning the holing of the contest are available on the Council’s website. The contest forms part of the actions defined in the plan of action for implementing the Moldova – EU Association Agreement for 2014-2016 and the stagey for covering the national territory with program services for 2016-2018.
