Broadcasting Coordination Council and Independent Journalism Centre sign cooperation agreement
The Independent Journalism Centre (IJC) signed an agreement of cooperation with the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communique from the IJC, the agreement was signed with the aim of establishing and developing a partnership between the two organisations. The objectives of the agreement are to ensure the protection of people’s rights to receive complete and impartial information, to enhance the quality of programme services of radio and TV broadcasters, to develop the electronic press market throughout Moldova, to involve the civil society in implementing European standards in the broadcasting sector and to build, maintain and develop a dialogue based on trust and mutual respect between the organisations that signed the agreements.
Also, the agreement stipulates seven principles that the signatories are bound to respect, such as participation, transparency, efficiency, responsibility and others.
The two organisations assumed certain commitments. The Broadcasting Coordination Council will ensure the participation of IJC representatives in meetings and seminars, will inform the Centre about the measures taken by it, will provide informational support in researches, studies and will be transparent in its activities. The Independent Journalism Centre will counsel the BCC in its efforts to implement the legislation on broadcasting, will inform the general public about the Council’s activity through press statements, communiques etc.
An agreement of cooperation in the broadcasting sector of Moldova was signed earlier by the Broadcasting Coordination Council and the Electronic Press Association (APEL). The signatories, preserving their autonomy and independence, committed themselves to cooperate in implementing the regulatory documents in the field.
