Broadcasting authority grants three more channels to NIT
The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) on Friday, January 18, granted the television station NIT licences for the use of three new channels, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Bids for available channels were invited in November 2007. The respective channels were disputed between NIT and the Rezina-based TV station Elita. With the vote of five out of seven members attending, NIT obtained licences for the channels in Straseni, Mandrestii Noi and Leova. For the permission to use the channel in Criuleni, NIT got four votes and Elita three, so it will remain unused until a new contest is held.
Also today, the BCC examined a complaint accusing the radio station Noroc of promoting xenophobia towards Moldova’s Russian minority in a talk show, but the BCC members concluded that the allegation was unfounded.
At the same meeting, the BCC approved the national plan for the distribution of terrestrial radioelectrical frequencies as well as the BCC’s 2007 performance report. The latter is to be supplemented with proposals from BCC members and submitted to Parliament until February 1.
