Broadcasting authority calls off TV frequencies contest

The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) suspended today the contest announced on October 19 to distribute available TV frequencies, citing applicants’ failure to fulfil core requirements, Info-Prim Neo reports. The proposal came from BCC member Carmelia Albu. She said the applications were incomplete, with most of them lacking the required organisational charts and evidence of applicants’ solvency, emphasising that her proposal to call of the contest was disinterested. Other BCC members also mentioned that the broadcasters submit their applications on the last day of term, with some of them being incomplete and not meeting competition requirements. The BCC adopted the decision to suspend the contest with the vote of six members attending. BCC Chair Gheorghe Gorincioi sated that the decision should serve as a warning for the bidding broadcasters. The BCC planned to distribute 13 available TV frequencies by means of the contest.
