Broadcasters given 30 days to translate foreign content
Television channels in Moldova that fail to provide Romanian dubbing or subtitles to foreign films, cartoons or programs have 30 days to comply, or face penalties, Mariana Onceanu-Hadirca, member of the Broadcasting Council, has told Info-Prim Neo.
“The Council has found that most national and local TV channels fail to observe the law and they should be sanctioned. If it were to act according to the law, then virtually all TV channels would have to be closed starting, well, today. If after this deadline they don't broadcast as required by law, we will resort to sanctioning”, said Mariana Onceanu-Hadirca.
She went on to regret that no significant changes in this respect have occurred since the updated Broadcasting Code was adopted in 2006.
The 30-day deadline imposed by the Council starts on the day of publishing in the Official Gazette.
