About 330,000 Romanian soldiers who died in battle or while being held hostage were commemorated at the Cemetery of Romanian Heroes in Feștelița village of Ștefan Vodă district. All of them placed the country’s interest above their own existence. At the commemoration ceremony, Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau Daniel Ioniță said the Romanian soldiers fought with sacrifice and courage to build current Romania: a modern state anchored in the realities of the 21st century. “We are members of the EU and NATO. We are a state that tries to promote stability and security in the geographical region to which it belongs by everything it does. This wouldn’t have been possible without the sacrifice and blood shed by our soldiers,” stated Daniel Ioniță.

There is much greater fuss on the political arena. Socialist MP Grigore Novac said the pro-Moldova strategy of the Democratic Party banks on the voters of the center and the left and this is a mistake. Chairman of the Movement “Voievod” Nicolae Pascaru stated the Democratic Party captured the whole electoral space. “It has ruled for a long period of time and solves all the problems with the assistance of the Prosecutor’s Office. I cannot say there is democracy in Moldova. There are districts where everyone converted to the PDM as Jehovah’s Witnesses,” he said.
Their opponents consider yet things stand very well. Democratic MP Eugen Nikiforchuk said it is important that the Republic of Moldova keep the pro-European development model, which the PDM considers is the best solution for the country. “All the projects existing in the country should be implemented first of all for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and the effects of these policies should be felt by the people,” he stated.
The sky will become narrower for the judges arrested by officers of the National Anticorruption Center. A judge will stay in custody for 30 days, while another two judges for 20 days. Two judges were placed under house arrest for 30 days, as was the prosecutor.
Former judge at the ECHR Stanislav Pavlovski wondered why now and why these judges were arrested. “Why did they take this step? There are several possible answers and I think one of these is that some of these judges consider that they can do everything they want if they work together with the government. They probably crossed a particular limit in their activity,” stated Stanislav Pavlovski.
