The bridge over the Gârla Mare River located on the R16 Balti–Falesti–Sculeni–Ungheni road, km 62.38, near Medeleni, was opened. The bridge started to be repaired in early June 2023, IPN reports.

According to Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spînu, the bridge was built in the 1960s and degraded over time. It is now 27.82 meters long and is equipped with protective, road and pedestrian metal barriers, having road signs and markings.

The bridge is of strategic importance, says the minister, because it ensures connection with the Sculeni frontier post that in 2023 was crossed by more than 2.2 million passengers and about 754,000 units of transport.

According to the State Road Administration, the total value of the bridge reconstruction project is 12.9 million lei. The money was allocated from the road fund.
