The bridge on the M5 highway - border with Ukraine-Criva-Balti-Chisinau-Tiraspol-border with Ukraine, km 264,790, known as the bridge in Cricova, was opened to traffic. According to the authorities, this segment forms part of the most widely used road in Moldova, IPN reports.

In this connection, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spînu said the rehabilitated segment ensures passage to the M1 express road - border with Romania-Leușeni-Chisinau-Tiraspol-border with Ukraine. “Now that these roads are available for use, traffic in the region will be fluidized in conditions of safety and comfort,” stated the minister.

The repair works performed so far included restoration of beams, laying down of the new asphalt surface, installation of safety barriers, drawing of markings, building of the support wall and widening of the roadway on M1 road.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the works to repair the bridge on M5 road were 75% executed and are to be completed by the end of next March.
