One day after returning from his leave of absence, the head of the Briceni Police Inspectorate, Chief Commissioner Valeriu Moscalu, was suspended from duties. The decision belongs to Interior Minister Andrei Năstase following the initiation of an internal investigation by the Ministry’s Anti-Corruption Service.
The Ministry says in a press release the decision is in connection with “media reports of serious wrongdoings allegedly committed by Chief Commissioner Moscalu as well as complaints from citizens.”
The Ministry of the Interior reiterates its determination to follow a zero-tolerance policy toward any abuses or acts of corruption committed by its employees, and promises that any complaint made in this regard will be thoroughly examined.
