The prosecutorial probe into the footage showing Dumitru Robu, the acting Prosecutor General, counting a stack of cash has been terminated. Ina Frunza-Bargan, the prosecutor appointed to investigate the case, found that the alleged actions didn’t amount to a crime.
The decision to terminate the investigation can be appealed with the superior prosecutor within 15 days.
In November 2021, footage was leaked to the media showing Robu counting a stack of cash euros with the insinuation that it was a bribe. Reacting to the leak, Robu said this was money from selling a car that belonged to his brother-in-law and who was abroad at the time.
