The coach of the national Olympic biathlon team Petru Bria considers Bogdan Macovei (sledding) has the greatest chances of achieving good results at the Sochi Olympic Games among the members of Moldova’s Olympic squad. He is of Romanian origin and will represent Moldova at the Olympics for the third time.
“We can expect a surprise from Macovei. I think he will fight for a place among the top ten,” Petru Bria stated for IPN.
The coach expects that the other naturalized athlete, George Lindner from Switzerland, will be among the top 30. “He is in a very good form and continues to improve his rating. The giant slalom event at the Sochi Olympics will involve about 120 athletes,” added Bria.
The other members of Moldova’s Olympic squad are cross-country skiers Victor Panzaru and Alexandra Kamenshchik. Bria hopes they will finish among the top 60.
The Winter Sochi Olympic Games will take place between February 7 and February 23.
