Breast cancer creeping, doctors from “Diaconia” Mission say
The number of women affected by breast cancer is rising, say specialists in thermography from the social Mission “Diaconia” of Basarabia's Metropolitan Church, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Only in the first half of this year, out 3,484 women investigated in the project, over 31 % (1,238) had mammary problems. The investigations have been carried out in 26 medical units from Chisinau, Balti, Telenesti, Ungheni, Hancesti, Anenii Noi, Criuleni, Causeni, Leova, Stefan Voda, Cahul, Donduseni and Rascani.
According to Dorel Dumbraveanu, a specialist in thermography working for the project, women aged from 31to 40 (50.7%) run mostly the risk to develop mastopathy. He says any woman should be aware that thermography is not dangerous for one's body
In 2007, the medical-sanitation unit of “Diaconia” investigated some 3,100 women from different Moldovan localities, as 30% of them were discovered to have different mammary problems.
According to Diaconia's statistics, cancer is ranked the 12th in the scope of all the diseases seen in Moldova, while the general structure of the death incidence, the malign tumors are the second. The number of people affected by cancer rose from 7,361 in 2006 to 7,484 in 2007, from which 10 % are accounted for breast cancer.
