The head of state promises that the bread will not increase in price even if the global harvest of the first group cultures is 2-fold lower against last years. “The price of the types of bread mostly solicited by the disadvantaged strata of population should not be increased at all. We are able to ensure stable prices for this indispensable product”, Vladimir Voronin told a session on finding solutions for overcoming the situation occurred because of the draught. The President asked the Commission for Emergency Situations, headed by the Prime-Minister, to make a fast decision in order to support the farmers and to provide the population with bread, without specifying what actions the commission should undertake. According to director of “Franzeluta” Eugen Baleca, at present the company works as usual, although it was forced to increase the output after several private companies stopped their activity. At present, the company uses the reserve flour, but there are talks on purchasing flour from local producers, as well as from the Ukrainian and Russian partners. At the same time, according to Director General of State Company “Moldresurse” Leon Balaban, country’s farmers are not very eager to buy food wheat. At the beginning of July, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry has forecasted a harvest of about 500 thousand tonnes. According to the economic analysts, in light of the continuous draught, the harvested volume will be considerably lower compared with the predicted one, and the price of bread will be higher if the grains will be bought from other countries.
