Brawl at City Hall
The atmosphere was tense at the City Hall's meeting on Monday as Chisinau Mayor
Dorin Chirtoaca picked at Social Assistance Division head Eugenia Ceban over some financial irregularities recently discovered by the Ministry of Finance, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Eugenia Ceban, reinstated by court after Chirtoaca decided to sack her in late 2007, declared at Monday's meeting that she has been persecuted for more than one year by a mayor who “he allows himself more liberties than what the law allows”.
The mayor accused Eugenia Ceban of being too generous in affording work experience bonuses to some of her subordinates, “a fact discovered last year by the municipal finance department and confirmed by the Ministry of Finance”, says the mayor.
“You're not my employer, because you represent the executive branch of the Chisinau City Council”, stated Ceban.
“The City Council, with Mr. Eduard Musuc as chairman, is to shape its own team, with a specialist to handle personnel matters. And stop picking on people. I am a very experienced manager. I know what I'm talking about”, she added.
“I regret to have a situation like this in the City Hall”, retorted Chirtoaca.
The mayor went on to add that the situation with the local administration “is an abusive attempt of the grouping PCRM– PSD– PPCD to usurp authority both in the City Council and the City Hall... Everyone must share part of the blame for the consequences of this situation”.
