Dumitru Galagot was the best Moldovan boxer in 2013, according to the Moldova Boxing Federation. The athlete trained by Petru Caduc won silver at the European Championship in Minsk and bronze at the World Universiade in Kazan.
Galagot is one of the three Moldovans who competed in one final of the European Championship, alongside Timofei Screabin and Veaceslav Gojan. In the Boxing Federation’s rankings, he is followed by Petru Ciobanu, who won bronze at the European Championship and Alexandru Riscan, who got bronze at the World Universiade.
Mihail Cvasiuc from Vadul lui Voda, who won bronze at the World Youth Championship in Rotterdam, was named the best boxer among the youth. The title of the best coach of the year was conferred on Petru Caduc, while of best referee on Valeriu Bandalac.
The president of the Moldova Boxing Federation Vasile Chirtoca handed over the prizes to the laureates. In 2014, the Moldovan boxers will take part in a number of tournaments of category A.
