Both parents who raise at least four children will be insured medically

Both of the parents, including the adoptive ones, who bring up at least four children will benefit from the status of medically insured person in the Mandatory Health Insurance System at request. Parliament on February 27 adopted a bill to amend the law on mandatory health insurance, IPN reports.

The bill provides that the status of medically insured person in the Mandatory Health Insurance System will be given to the parent, including the adoptive one, who effectively raises and educates four and more children for the period during which at least one of the children is younger than 18. The documents showing that the parent effectively brings up the children will be issued by the local social assistance bodies.

Earlier, the Constitutional Court passed a judgment saying that a father can become involved in the raising of children in the same way as a mother. This way, the bill to amend Article 4 of the law on mandatory health insurance is designed to adjust the legislation to the constitutional provisions and to exclude the earlier existing discrimination.
