Politologist Boris Shapovalov said he does not remember seeing a dirtier and harsher election campaign during which the ruling party would use the administrative resources so heavily. According to him, the warning issued by the Central Election Commission to the presidential administration in connection with the use of administrative resources is political in character, IPN reports.
“I do not remember seeing state functionaries who take part in the election campaign using so openly the administrative resources accompanied by the political discrimination element,” the politologist stated in a program on NTV Moldova channel.
The politologist wondered how in a democratic country the CEC can ban the President from stating his opinion and from meeting with people. “This decision by the Central Election Commission is political. I’m sure that the CEC abused its authority in relation to the President,” stated Boris Shapovalov.
The Party of Socialists’ representative to the CEC Maxim Lebedinski said that in the current campaign, instead of staging a contest of ideologies and ideas, the political organizations staged a personal struggle. “We try to struggle ideologically, not legally with our opponents. Besides, we document all the actions of our opponents and the multiple cases of trying to bribe voters are the most serious ones,” he stated.
According to Maxim Lebedinski, the election day will be much more active than the whole election campaign. The representatives of all the political parties, if they really want to win, should mobilize forces. The election outcome will depend on the way in which the parties mobilize their voters. “I’m inclined to believe that the people think about their future and the future of the Republic of Moldova,” stated the representative of the PSRM.
