Bore draw between league leaders
Dacia Chisinau and Milsami Orhei failed to live up to the expectations in the derby of Round 22, on Wednesday, February 16. The league leaders’ clash ended in a scoreless draw, as both teams fielded several new players. Sheriff Tiraspol will look to use the opportunity and catch up with the leaders. Tonight, Sheriff will play Rapid Ghidighici.
The shock of the round was FC Tiraspol’s 4-0 trashing of Olimpia Balti. All the goals were scored in the second half by Andrei Corneencov, Vladimir Kilikevici and Gheorghe Nicologlo twice. This was FC Tiraspol’s first match under new coach Vlad Goian.
FC Costuleni lost their first match in 2011. Coach Igor Ursachi failed to make use of home advantage and his team succumbed to a 0-2 defeat to Zimbru Chisinau. Oleg Andronic and Razak Salifu got their names on the score sheet. Before the match, Costuleni launched their official anthem.
Elsewhere, Academia UTM Chisinau bested Sf. Gheorghe Suruceni 2-0, thanks to goals from Maxim Potarniche and Vladimir Potlog.
The last game of the round will be played on Thursday, February 17, between Gagauzia Comrat and Dinamo Bender.
