The Palanca state border crossing point will not work between November 5 and December 21, 2018 in connection with reconstruction works, IPN reports.
According to the Border Police, the state border could not be crossed through this point. The travelers and units of transport will be diverted to the Tudora-Starokazacie state border crossing point.
For its part, the Customs Post said the new border crossing point in Palanca will be inaugurated by the end of this year. This will occupy an area of 2.6 hectares. There will be ten entrance and exit lines of traffic, by two lanes for cars, by two lanes for trucks and by one lane for buses. The border crossing will also have a pedestrian checkpoint.
It is estimated that the new construction will double the point’s capacity. Almost 600,000 persons annually crossed the state border through the Palanca border crossing point until now. The number of vehicles that will cross the border through this point will rise to about 570,000 annually. The new point will be connected to the Odesa – Reni highway by a new access road that is now under construction.
The budget of the project to reconstruct the Palanca border crossing point totals €6.18 million, €4.5 million of which is provided by the EU, while €1.68 million is the contribution of the Government of the Republic of Moldova. The project is implemented by UNDP Moldova.
