Book “National Symbols of RM” to be distributed to rural libraries

An encyclopedic volume titled “National Symbols of the Republic of Moldova” will be printed in 3,000 copies by the Independence Day of Moldova, IPN reports, quoting a Government decision on the allocation of 250,000 lei from the executive’s reserve fund for the purpose.

The president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova Gheorghe Duca said this important work was compiled and printed at the Academy’s Institute of Encyclopedic Studies. The authors of the work, who are well-known heraldic scientists, aimed to identify the national symbols that represent Moldova. The first three chapters describe and graphically reproduce the state symbols – the coat of arms, the state flag, and the state anthem of Moldova. The next chapters contain information about other symbols and their derivates and about regional heraldry.

This work was declared the Book of 2011 at the Chisinau International Book Show. In 2012, on the initiative of the then Prime Minister Vlad Filat, there were printed 1,500 copies and transmitted to education institutions.

“The 3,000 copies that will be printed this year will be probably distributed to rural libraries and district councils so that they contribute to the people’s education and cultivation of the feeling of devotion to the Republic of Moldova,” said Gheorghe Duca.
