Bomb scares were reported at four medical institutions, at the Centru Court of Chisinau and the Chisinau International Airport, IPN reports.

The bomb threat reports were made through email. Currently, all the responsible institutions are working to exclude the risks and ensure the citizens’ security

Update /4:15pm/ All the bomb scares turned out to be hoaxes. No explosive devices were found as a result of searches.

Moldova has been hit by a string of bomb hoaxes in the recent past. The General Police Inspectorate said over 40 bomb threats made against about 200 targets have been recorded so far this year. The Chisinau International Airport was the target of hoaxes most often. Access to the Airport’s terminal is now allowed only to personnel and travellers.

Intentional misleading about an act of terrorism is punished with a fine of 27,500 to 42,500 lei or 180 to 240 hours of community service or a maximum jail term of two years.
