An individual on January 16 informed the police through email that a bomb was planted inside the Parliament Building. The letter was received at 12:15. The police and a bomb squad were on the spot immediately. Press officer of the Chisinau Police Division Natalia Stati has told IPN that the information wasn’t made public so as not to destabilize the situation.
According to Natalia Stati, the area wasn’t enclosed even if a protest in support of early legislative elections, organized by the Party of Socialists, was being mounted in front of the Parliament Building at that moment. Sympathizers of the Political Party “Our Party” continued the same protest afterward.
It is not yet known if the bomb threat is false or true.
