Bomb threat at “Gheorghe Asachi” Lyceum was a hoax

The bomb scare at the Chisinau-based Romanian-French Lyceum “Gheorghe Asachi” turned out to be a hoax. The lyceum’s principal Boris Volosatyi said the caller who informed about the bomb is yet to be identified. According to him, this was a joke by a student who wasn’t ready for lessons, IPN reports.

The students and staff of “Gheorghe Asachi” were evacuated and spent some time in front of the school after an individual called the police and said that a bomb had been planted at the lyceum. The call was made at about 12 noon on March 24. Boris Volosatyi stated that the students studying in the first shift failed to have only the last lesson, while in the second shift only the sixth graders have classes. These were to have a test today.

The principal told the journalists at the scene that this is not the first time that the lyceum experiences a bomb scare, but the last hoax was witnessed long ago. The students are ready for such situations as they are evacuated within trials two times a year.

If the caller is identified and this is a minor, his parents will be fined.
